Rules for Massage

These are the simple (but forgotten) Rules for getting a massage

1) You are In Charge

While getting a massage remember that you are in charge and in control of your body. Dress code is optional. You are kept covered at all times. Your massage is performed in a secure room and private. While it will just be the two of us I will treat every massage as if an inspector is in the room. Any accommodations you need to make yourself and your mind more comfortable just let the Massage Therapist know.

2) Talking is optional

Do you like to chat? That’s great. Do you like silence? That’s great also. This is your time to destress. It can also be a great time to meditate and listen to what your body has been wanting to tell you. Take notice of what your body needs. It will talk to you through feelings of relief and sensitivity. Feel free to communicate is whatever way you like, Just be sure to let your Massage Therapist know if anything approaches discomfort. There is a place for massages that can be uncomfortable but I’m too squeamish for such massages and don’t want (or need) to cause discomfort of any kind. So let me know of any and all discomforts. I’m listening to what you and your body tells me.

3) Pressure is up to you

While I don’t call my massages “Deep Tissue”, I can provide enough pressure to get to the deeper tissues, whether through Myofascial Release or Visceral Manipulation. My problem with “Deep Tissue Massage” is that there are those that can’t get deep enough for their preferences unless my large self stands on them and dances and I’m too old for that and my balance doesn’t support that. Also the pressure can be as light as you like.

4) Everything can be modified.

I proudly brag about my made up title as “The Queen of Comfort”. Face cradle doesn’t feel just right? Let me know and it can be adjusted. Temperature isn’t just right? I’ll do my best to make adjustments. Anything you can think of to make your massage more comfortable, Please just let me know. I will do everything I possible can to modify things to your preference and comfort.

5) I Love Goals

Whether your goal is to relax or you have specific aches and pains. Discussing your goals helps keep me focused and motivated to complete it. We will discuss your goals before and after your massage to make sure we succeed.

6) I am a stickler for Rules and Scope of Practice

All that being said all these rules are meant to bring as much comfort and safety to you and the massage therapist (Me). If you think of any more rules I can follow and use I would love to hear them. I Love Rules in the name of comfort and supporting you in your journey of wellness
